Metropolitan Nashville District Energy System
Smith Seckman Reid, an engineering design and facility consulting firm based in Nashville, Tenn., earned the top award in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Tennessee annual statewide awards competition.
SSR received the “Grand Award for Engineering Excellence” for its work on the Metropolitan Nashville District Energy System (NDES), a new facility that replaced the previous waste-burning plant that had been operated since 1974 by the Nashville Thermal Transfer Corporation. As the lead engineering firm on the project, SSR provided engineering planning, design, construction administration and commissioning services.
Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital
SSRCx earned a merit award in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Tennessee annual statewide awards competition for providing commissioning services for the new Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Including 616,800 square feet of inpatient construction and 150,000 square feet of medical office space, this standalone facility is considered one of the premier children’s hospitals in the Southeast. SSRCx provided prefunctional and functional performance testing of mechanical systems and was able to achieve a large return on investment.
